UAE weather alert: Humidity, cloud cover and rough seas expected through Wednesday
Rain possible over northern, eastern and island areas
DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to experience a mix of humid mornings, cloud cover and intermittent rainfall across parts of the country from Saturday through Wednesday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.
Forecasts indicate recurring mist or fog formation during early hours, particularly across coastal, western and internal areas, alongside partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Rainfall remains possible over islands and select coastal, northern and eastern regions on several days, while wind speeds and sea conditions are expected to fluctuate, at times turning rough in northern waters.
The lowest temperature recorded across the country early Saturday was 11.5°C at Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah at 01:45 UAE local time.
Saturday
Saturday is forecast to begin with humid conditions and a probability of mist formation over some coastal and internal areas. As the day progresses, skies will remain partly cloudy, turning cloudy at times across several regions. Rainfall is possible over islands and parts of the coastal, northern and eastern areas, particularly during the night.
Temperatures are expected to rise, with coastal areas recording highs between 24°C and 28°C and lows of 20°C to 23°C. Interior regions will remain cooler, ranging from 14°C to 22°C during the day and dipping to as low as 8°C overnight. Mountain temperatures will vary between 25°C and 31°C, with lows of 12°C to 18°C.
Winds will be light to moderate, starting southeasterly before shifting northwesterly, freshening at times with cloud activity. Wind speeds are forecast between 10 and 25 km/h, reaching up to 40 km/h. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will be slight to moderate, becoming rough at times by night.
Sunday
Sunday will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies at intervals, especially across coastal, northern and eastern areas. The chance of rainfall continues during daytime hours, keeping conditions unsettled in several regions.
Coastal temperatures will remain steady at 24°C to 28°C, while overnight lows could fall to 14°C in some areas. Interior regions will maintain a cooler profile, with highs of 14°C to 22°C and lows between 8°C and 16°C. Mountain areas are expected to see daytime temperatures between 25°C and 31°C.
Winds will shift from southwesterly to northwesterly, remaining light to moderate but freshening at times, with speeds reaching 40 km/h. Seas are forecast to be slight to moderate, becoming rough at times in northern parts of the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
Monday
Humidity will return during Monday morning, with a probability of mist formation over some coastal areas. Conditions are forecast to be fair to partly cloudy overall, while low clouds may develop over eastern and northern regions. A slight decrease in temperatures is expected, particularly across northern parts of the country.
Coastal highs will range from 21°C to 26°C, with overnight lows of 14°C to 20°C. Interior areas will cool further, recording daytime temperatures between 12°C and 21°C and lows as low as 7°C. In mountainous regions, temperatures will range from 25°C to 30°C during the day.
Winds will again shift from southeasterly to northwesterly, remaining light to moderate and freshening northward at times, with gusts reaching 40 km/h. Sea conditions will stay slight to moderate, turning rough intermittently in northern waters.
Tuesday
Tuesday morning will bring humid conditions across some coastal and internal areas. Skies are expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with low clouds forming over eastern regions. Rainfall remains possible over select areas, particularly earlier in the forecast period.
Temperatures will show slight variation, with coastal areas seeing highs between 22°C and 27°C and overnight lows of 14°C to 20°C. Interior regions will continue to record cooler readings, ranging from 12°C to 21°C during the day and dipping to 7°C at night. Mountain temperatures will reach up to 31°C, with lows around 10°C to 16°C.
Winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate in strength, with speeds of 10 to 20 km/h and gusts reaching 30 km/h. Sea conditions are expected to ease, remaining slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
Wednesday
By Wednesday, humid conditions are forecast to persist in the morning, with a probability of fog or mist formation over coastal and internal areas, particularly toward the north. The remainder of the day will be fair to partly cloudy, with low clouds appearing eastward.
Coastal temperatures are expected to rise slightly, reaching 22°C to 28°C, while interior areas will range between 13°C and 21°C. Mountain regions will record highs of 25°C to 30°C.
Winds will shift from southeasterly to northeasterly, remaining light to moderate and freshening at times, with speeds reaching up to 35 km/h. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.
The NCM has advised motorists to exercise caution during early morning hours due to reduced visibility caused by mist or fog, while sea-goers are urged to remain alert during periods of stronger winds and rougher waters.
